If I'm not mistaken, only 1/3 of the revenues came from iPod
sales. The bulk came from hardware and software sales. Unlike
your favorite company. You know the one, they use "unearned"
revenue (software license 6 ring a bell?), and charging for a point
upgrade (xp is NT 5.1). There's a trick pony, if I ever saw one.

Even as a windows apologist, you would see a benefit from
competition. Apple and Linux gain marketshare, this forces
Microsoft to lower prices and improve quality. Those that leave
windows for either Linux or Mac gain(better OS), those that stay
with windows gain( MS is forced to make a better OS and apps).
It's the consumers that win in these situations. Heck even MS
gains something here. They can truly claim they're not an
monopoly anymore, so they don't have to live under such
restricted rules.
