Didja Notice...
the part about corporate users with Windows volume licensing buying PC's with Windows, wiping Windows and installing their volume licensed copy of Windows. None of those companies was getting the pre-installed copy of Windows for free. Now those companies don't have to pay for Windows twice. That's a lot more copies lost than when you just consider Linux users, and Microsoft will notice. The computer industry media will notice too when the inflated count of Windows shipments gets cut in half by the number of volume licensed copies.

The really funny part of the $849 is how much of that amount that was unnecessarily sent to Microsoft in the past... That's gonna hurt. Not as much as the other stuff that's in the news today though like the Google/Sun announcement and another that OpenOffice 2.0 will be 90% cheaper to migrate to from Office 2003 than Office 12 will be: http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2005-10-04-016-26-OS-DT-MS
