---... then Apple is making a mistake buy locking the
Intelversion of OSX to only run on their hardware.---

Some differences apply, as software is not sold like hardware, it
is only licensed, and you agree to that license when you pay for
it. If Apple sold me an iMac, then sent along a firmware update
that stopped my box from running Linux, then you'd have the
equivalent of what's happening here. If you buy something from
Apple that is limited, and you know it's limited, then you're
making that choice based on the existing limits. If you buy
something from Apple and they limit it later, then yes, I have a
problem with that.

But Apple is certainly guilty of the same sorts of things with
iTunes, where they sold me songs that I could stream from my
home machine to my work machine. Now I can't do that
anymore. The songs are thus worth less to me now than when I
purchased them.
