Ummm....
Nice articles, but reading them with an open mind they appear to be articles whose purpose is to explain the differences between RISC and CISC. I didn't see any compelling argument in there explaining why RISC is a better performing CPU.

As a disclaimer, I'll mention that I've always been a fan of RISC over CISC. I go back to the days when most programming was done in assembler and I actually enjoyed banging bits. From an assembly language programming standpoint RISC is fastly superior, IMHO. Yes it takes more instructions but give me general purpose registers and linear address space over the x86 method anyday. But, those days are long past. Compilers now make the caveats of CISC virtually transparent to the programmer.

However, the primary discussion of this thread was performance, not programming. And from that perspective, RISC doesn't appear to have any major advantage over CISC. I would love to be shown numbers proving otherwise, but I haven't yet.
