IIRC, recent surveys had Dell dropping in customer satisfaction (PC mags, Consumer Report).

Apple has been at or very near the top of customer satisfaction surveys with Dell somewhere nearby but it HAD declined (even if slightly... thought due to moving tech support off-shore).

As an aside re Dell quality (and many of your other posts)...

Popularity (Dells' #1 position) does not necessarily equate to quality. (Windows and much MS software will attest to that... not an unwarranted shot but the opinion of many that most MS software is "just good enough" and not necessarily the "best of class".)

Our educational institution has had a Dell-only supply contract for a few years (leased desktop Optiplexs) and they quickly became known as "Hells" in IT support. (my 2+ year old quickly needed a CD drive replaced and now my network card is acting up. It gets little use compared to my previous, heavily used and abused 4+ year old Mac G4 (500MHz) which is still humming along. (also have a newer G4 (dual 1.42GHz))

The Dell laptops (Latitudes) are not much better.

Experiences may and do differ but I wouldn't necessarily equate Dell "popularity" with "quality".
