Not totally accurate, they were good quality and for the price compared to the big dogs of the industry at the time...that's what made them popular...and today they are #1 because of it.

Luxury PC's may be a stretch for those high end vendors that really go all out, but it doesn't take from the fact that Dell won and continues to win based on thier quality...and let's face it...all the components are the same on the inside for all manufacturers, so where they shine is in their approach, business model, customer service, etc."

Again, I don't know what your reading but although they weren't on top all of the time, must of the articles even here on ZDNet chose Dell when it came to Editor's Picks, etc. so it can't be all bad as you describe it...overall...and that means compared to whom? the rest of the pack...they are in pretty good shape.

Well, your entitled to your own opinion, but caling them GARBAGE is a little extreme...in my opinion my 1st Dell back in 1996 was awesome and my current one is Ok, so the future looks bright for Dell in my mind.
