Better than Compaq ever was
Better than Compaq ever was - Compaq used the absolute cheapest parts they could find, and the result was a line of continuously crashing nightmares. Not to mention many of their PCs didn't even come with AGP slots long after many manufacturers made them standard.

Dell, IMHO, is somewhere in the middle - not the worst stuff, but not the best stuff either.

The most luxurious PCs are actually self-built monsters I've seen some people create. Throw together the best parts on the market, and it'll run rings around Alienware . . .
