Organizational SNAFUs
You can blame events, but the problem with Palm has always
been cultural. The technology started at Apple (Apple
employees) and then the company got picked up by USR, then
3COM picked up USR, then Palm languished under 3COM and
then they got spun off, and then they spun off the software unit.
In the mean time, Handspring spun off, only to be re-merged
later. I've got friends that worked for 3COM, Palm, and
Handspring, all along the way and it was frightening. So who do
you work for this week. I'm amazed they shipped anything with
all the corporate transitions they had to face on an almost
annual basis.
