That's because those people typically have more money and attend better quality schools. IMO, if anything technology has made people exponentially dumber. Look at what TV has done to people. Most people do not go surfing to learn about WWII or scientific principles, they do it to IM with friends, blog, trade music/movies, and watch porn.
