From the Microsoft Hall of Innovations...
"IntelliMouse
This product put a thumb wheel on the mouse, allowing users to scroll the active window without moving the mouse. A Microsoft first? According to readers, the Net-Pointe Mouse from PC Concepts (with an up/down button) came out earlier, and the Mouse Systems ProAgio mouse (now called the SmartScroll Mouse) has been selling since at least 1995, and Kensington came out with a trackball with similar roller at about the same time. Others say the Genius Mouse (Easyscroll) came out a year before the IntelliMouse. And now, mouse and keyboard maker Goldtouch is suing Microsoft over for alleged patent infringement on the basis of a 1997 meeting at which Goldtouch disclosed design features of a mouse which they say turned up later in Microsoft's IntelliMouse Pro. It's only a lawsuit of course, but the IntelliMouse is looking less like a Microsoft innovation every day. - Posted by: MacCanuck Posted on: 09/07/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
