Initial buy-in price...Pay me now, or pay me later.
I hear a lot about the cost out-of-the-box from PC users. But
you same people wouldn't let a user online without getting a
bunch of software (albeit free) added. The moment the new
computer goes online to get that software it is a target for all
the malware for PCs, some of which won't let the new CPU/
memory sapping apps from even being installed (without
burning a CD then wiping the drive and starting over). The best
way is to have a previous system or have a friend that can d/l
the apps they need.

How much software comes with those bargain basement
systems? Don't go quoting all the free stuff, most new users
have no clue about that stuff and have to buy something from
the store guy. Can you do the equivalent of Appleworks and iLife
with the supplied software? Imagine a system going to Alaska by
bush pilot. No internet and no running to CompUSA or Best Buy.

The Mini is designed for people who have a keyboard, monitor
and mouse. Most folks know somebody with extra stuff from
older systems lying around. If you keep both Mini and PC users
at the same level of use then the Mini is still well equipped with
software. By comparing it to a Dell or HP that may have a higher
clock speed and more memory you need to remember how much
the anti-malware apps will drain to keep the PC safe.
Appleworks and the iLife suite give the average user all the tools
they'll use till they need to get more expensive pro apps, when
they'll probably get a machine with more oomph.

I know I have talked about a system with no internet and one
with. Both scenarios show that Apple has software the user
needs and also can get them online without draining system
resources to stay safe.
