Less Cords?
There is somethign caled a Device Wire Adapter (DWA) planned for Wireless USB. This is a powered box with an antenna upstream and downstream ports.

You can get stuff off your desk and over to a table accross your room or office without stringing a cable.

The DWA will supply power and connectivity. You still have to plug it into the wall, but you don't have to run USB cables accross the room. Just think of this as your 'power strip'.

Unfortunately most useful devices like USB printers and hard disks require their own power cord.

Wireless USB is fast enough to support disk drives. I predict drives will be sold as '40 hours of movie storage'. Simply plug the drive in and place it on hyour bookshelf. This cuts the cables in the living room where it matters.

Yes Wireless USB links are protected with AES 128 bit encryption and it is mandatory and invisible to the user.

I work on this stuff, but don't expect to see it until holiday season 2006 and then just introductary products.
