As said in another post, I understand the concept of
convergence, and would love to have all of my various pocket
goodies in one small package. But the offerings as far as music
playing cel phones fall way short of the delicious goodness
offered up by the iPod (smaller storage space, less intuitive
interface, poorer sound quality and lord only knows what this
will do to your battery life). The question is whether consumers
would be willing to accept a vastly inferior product just to save
some pocket space. I don't think they will, at least not in huge
numbers.

And that's the problem with convergence devices. Very few
devices that I've seen offer anywhere near the quality of
dedicated devices. In a dream world, my iPod would be my
phone and my palm pilot, but so far, there are too many
compromises involved.
