They Don't always Repair Stuff!
Don't get me wrong, I am actually quite the Mac Zealot because
the platform is a joy to use and the iBook is one sturdy beast
(new and old design).

BUT there is a point to which Apple courteously declined to
repair at even a reasonable price.
The ship all notebooks now with Slot-Loading optical drives.
What they don't advertise or state outside of an obscure Tech-
Info-Library site page, is that if you insert a mini-CD or mini-
DVD into the slot loading drive, they DO NOT WARRANTY ANY
DAMAGE because, as is NOT PUBLICLY STATED, said mini disks
will jam inside.
They were polite on the phone, but said it would cost about 900
USD to repair, because it is not under warranty when that
occurs.
I bought the iBook 1 month prior to the incident.
There is no warning or label or alert to this incompatibility, but
many peripheral makers ship drivers on these mini disks.

Needless to say, I had to hunt down a replacement drive. I found
a new one that works well, and burns faster and includes DL, but
I had to replace it myself.
Most folks could not do that.

So, shame on Apple and anyone else who doesn't make it known
that some common media can be inserted, but will break the
device.

All is not doom and gloom though, as far back as the first mac I
bought, I ordered a G3 tower, and was unaware of the g4, but
they sent me a G4 at a reduced price.
Even this iBook, before I ordered it I called and asked if they
would include double the RAM, because it was before they raised
the minimum from a paltry 256 to 512, they said no, not for
free.
but they shipped it with it for free anyway.
So I still have to say, Apple treats its customers pretty good.
With quality out the door 90% of the time.
