What software do the likes of HP and or Dell own and produce?
Well... as much as I would love to support your claims, I gotta call you on this one.
HP makes HP-UX, granted it doesn't have the power it once did, it is still in use in some production facities. IBM makes AIX,OS/400, and formerly OS/2. Glad you didn't mention them in your rant, I would have had to shoot you.
Dell probably outsources some projects that deal with server management and workstation management much like Microsoft wants to sell you.
