For the same price the iPod has twice the hardrive of the zen.
Kiddies huh? How bout the Queen of England and the President
of the USA who have iPods. (OK one out of two isn't bad) Yes
Apple's marketing has been superb. Everybody knows what the
dancing silouttes are advertising and the iPod/U2 blitz was a
great thing for the pod (and U2). But here is the bottom line. You
can go in stores the don't even sell the iPod and buy iPod
accessories. And I mean dedicated ones like cases that only fit
iPods. How exactly is that messing up success? Do you really
expect to find 400+ accessories for a Zen? The pod is now so
successful that it supports a whole aftermarket realm. As I have
posted on many previous occasions, those who think it is a
passing fad ignore the auto industry. Anybody out there driving
a car with an 8 track. The cassette won the battle for car audio
for 30 years before CD made it complete. There are now more
than a half dozen car companies with dedicated ipod
connectors. You can now with a 60 gb iPod put your entire audio
collection at your fingertips, literally. Scion now has it. Isuspect
that is a trial balloon for all of the Toyota lines. Toyota is #2. I
am sure they wish to be #1. iPod is the #1 music device. Toyota
will help them stay that way.
