Saves time; allows you to do more...
We won a Roomba last year (I doubt I'd have been willing to shell out the $$$ for one if I had to buy it myself). I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical when my husband first took it out of the box. However, after seeing it in action, I can say that I'm pretty impressed with how well it works - both on our hardwood floors and any rugs that we have. I can only imagine that if someone is having a problem w/ carpted areas, maybe they have Shag carpeting (and if so, why????).

We have two Rough Collies (think "Lassie") and our Roomba actually does a darned good job at picking up the inevitable tons of dog hair that gets deposited around the house. It?s also somewhat fascinating to see it work its way around the room (and around/under furniture). The dogs even tend to ignore it until it bumps into. My biggest beef w/ the product is that the collection cups are a bit on the small side and fill up quicker than I'd like. I still use our "traditional" vacuum, but the Roomba does a good job at picking up dirt and hair between regular cleanings.

Frankly, it's nice to be able to set it and walk away to be able to do other things around the house like cleaning the kitchen or doing laundry. I guess I don't think of it as a device that allows me to sit on the sofa watching TV while eating bon-bons. Instead, it allows me to get more done.
