I'd agree that they're #4 in the USA, and #6 worldwide. Pretty
impressive, given that they are selling a system that's different
from all the other top competitors, so they can't take advantage
of any of the synergy generated by MS' monopoly position in the
market.

As far as judging by "one quarter", why not go back and look at
Apple's numbers over the past year:
Q3 2004:

the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 27.8 percent, up from

of $2.01 billion in the year-ago quarter, and represent revenue
growth of 75 percent and net profit growth of 425 percent.
Gross margin was 29.7 percent, up from 27.8 percent in the
year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 39 percent
of the quarter?s revenue.
