If only MS were smarter investors
---And if it wasn't for Gates "investing" how many hundredes of
millions of dollars a couples years back and keeping Office alive
for Apple, Apple would be dead.---

It was $150 million in non-voting stock. MS sold that stock off
at a profit as soon as they were allowed to by law. If they'd held
on to that stock, it would now be worth well over $1 billion.

Don't forget that MS also benefited from that deal--they got
Apple to drop Netscape for IE (although perhaps this is not a
benefit, as it's one of the things they got brought up on antitrust
charges for), and they got Apple to drop some of their
longstanding lawsuits over the look and feel of Windows.

But yes, guaranteeing the existence of Office for the Mac did
give Apple a level of legitimacy they needed when they were at
their lowest point, so kudos to MS. Then again, if you want to
point out things like this, without Apple and their GUI design
and early products, MS would never have existed, so let's call it
even.

---Nice try at keeping the Apple hystria going.---

Hystria (sic)? This is nothing. Wait till you can buy a machine
that runs Windows, Linux and OSX at the same time. Then you'll
see some hystria.
