Clarifications for Mr. Ferrara.
`` It is obvious to me that your stance that MS is an immoral company clearly guides your analysis of their products. While MS products are flawed (as are all complex software products), they still generally get the job done. That is all I care about. ''

On the contrary the more you study computers the more the way MS puts 'commercial' s/w together get on your nerve. I know many people in C Progamming 101 that could had made more mature decisions.

MS is immoral but it is NOT the only one. I am not so naive to believe that MS is the only immoral and only shoddy-s/w vendor.

To be fair and balanced you need to study computers and then you can evaluate FAIRLY the alternatives.

I am sure that ms windows+office is decent for workroups in the office. Great for them. For more serious centers: data, storage, computation, communication, etc. you cannot live without UNIX. Period.

So to be fair, if you want to promote the notion that platform X is better than Y, then you need to provide the technical aspects and selection factors and then WEIGH the alternatives WRT to the decision factors. Then it is clear or clearer.

I don't discount your work or your skills, but attacking someone on the basis that they do n't like the ONLY platform you are familiar with is not right. Right?

I will be glad to answer SERIOUS questions that are posed in good faith and in pursuing technical answers.
