- Your replies are really full of water (and gasses

-
And have you used SUBSTANTIALLY anything else besides ms windows?
``Anybody else who's spent less than 2 1/2 years using their platform, file behind michael-t's post. ''
This is really interesting. Since then you are an experienced IT person, it should be EASY for you to address my points with reasoned arguments and facts to my different OPs.
Where is the reasoned and factually substantiated refutation to my statements? It is NOT PRESENT.
You can accuse someone of being wrong but UNLESS you can PROVE his points wrong, you just make the sound of exiting hot air.
``And BTW, for those in the know, your comments didn't water down the thread, much.''
So it seems that you speak on behalf of ALL the "in the know" people? I must have missed the elections...
Who woted for you?
``As for LANDesk, you don't know you have it on your work Pee Ceee or you don't have it at all (IT's choice if you got em), so you can look up its brochure with Google, or for you AskDude. You might be able to swing the full client version, but it may take you a little time to get over the financial loss instead of getting Playstation 3 next year, hey unless you can build up your piggy bank in time.''
You seem to be making the asssumption that whoever is not using ms windows at work he must be just a youngster playing with the PS 3.
Have you ever head of UNIX, z/OS, OS/390, OpenVMS? These are REAL OSs and have NOTHING to do with ms windows.
As a matter of fact we use anything here BUT windows. I am affiliated with a large HPC shop and we do UNIX and Linux. ms windows has NO presence in my area. (One of the reasons is that people can not stop laughing after they hear about ms windows and HPC; so nobody could ever spent more than a few minutes contemplating this idea.)
I don't want to break your bubble but setting up ms windows using the various GUIs is highly UNimpressive.
You "answer" is simply a thinly vailed personal insult against the infidel who does not use ms windows.
After you get familiar with other systems outside the windwoes you can come back and discuss. In the meantime, if you think you can disprove the statements you are contesting, go ahead and do it.
I don't discount the value of your work. However, by prejudging someone on the basis of 'not using ms windows => he is a linux freak' is simply asinine. (dictionary: www.m-w.com)
