Season time for Attacks
"A newly discovered and as-of-yet unpatched security vulnerability in Windows XP could let an attacker remotely crash computers. Microsoft says it is working on a patch"

It's July it's season for dos attacks worms and vunerabuility suprises:

1) script kiddies are home and not in school

2) admins and security people are on beach
vacation someplace warm having a nice cool
one or lost in a deep dark forest with the
wife and kids.

3) July is the month when attackers gather for
their usaul powwow and learn new tricks and
test new toys

Keep those firewalls up folks and make sure your
systems are up to date.
