Live by the patent die by the patent...
As companies sue each other I'm starting to not purchase from
them of which Lexar being the latest. Lexar says Toshiba's
customers are specifically on notice... What is Lexar going to do,
come rip the memory card from my camera then sue me? Think
SCO. They can have it back I'll purchase from someone else.

If all this litigation happened back in the day we may not have
the products we have today. Consider anything, spark plugs,
toasters, window panes, refrigerators, any third party
replacement product this list could go on for ever. Auto
manufactures could have stopped third party parts makers.
Thankfully this didn't happen as we see it today with computer
products. Also you have Epson suing to keep a company from
selling refilled ink cartridge to keep those companies from
selling products in the US. What Epson has done is deprived me
of lowering my expenses; dumped their printers as well.

It must be mind boggling for someone to think of something,
develop it then to find that some entity has patented a
procedure or what-ever so now they sue you. Does one need to
spend forever looking into patents prior to developing a product
or do you develop the product then hope you don't get sued and
if you do get sued you've made enough money to weather that
storm.

For example the iPod iTunes, there's a company taking Apple to
court over that well after the fact. They see Apple has made a
ton of money so now they want to cash in on it. That company
(cannot remember the spelling) I never heard of but for sure
won't purchase from them as well. As I see it when one lives by
the patent dies by the patent.

Again, I could be totally incorrect and ill informed if I am please
be sure to inform me as such.
