because DELL sells you old technology
and tries to pawn it off as something new. For example, the numerous "Pentium 4" cpus they ship that only have a 533 MHz bus, and don't even have hyperthreading. They also ship the majority of their systems with DDR 2100 when the the standard is DDR 3200. If you really want high-end get a system with DDR2. I hate DELL. They rip everyone off.
