Gateway 64 advertising is not true. 64 in name only.
Apparently Gateway has no intention of making good on their advertising for several computers based on the AMD Athlon 64. A direct quote from Gateway Support: "Now, if you want a 64 Bit Operating system, we do not recommend
switching to 64 bit Operating system However, it is your discretion to install a 64 bit but we will no longer provide a technical assistance
for that." And further: "Gateway will not support the compatible drivers for your system"

Keep in mind that the adversing still says "AMD64 technology provides simultaneous support for 32 bit and 64 bit computing, including today's 32 bit applications and tomorrow's 64 bit software.... " as seen in this Best Buy listing for a current model: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7742963&type=product&id=1140393564993

In my view, a false statement made to encourage a purchase is false advertising, or in other words a lie. I have repeatedly asked Gateway's totally lame offshore support people to make good on the advertised capabilities and they want me to have an "open mind" to their refusal to do anything about it.

Gateway support: "I see that you are trying to insist for a 64 bit Operating System of
your 7510GX. " Well, yes! That is what it said on the box when I bought it.

I wonder if Best Buy is aware that they are a party to this continued false advertising?
