I thought i'd read that the 64 bit version of XP
would not be available as an upgrade but would be available only as a preinstalled OS on a new pc. Also, XP support for 16 bit apps is available only in the program compatibility mode, I believe, and even then it might not work. You can't fault MS for limiting or cutting off support for these old apps. Supporting ancient apps and hardware is the main reason windows has a reputation for being bloatware.
