- Hmmm...

I guess we'll be replacing and tossing notebooks like cell phones when new features are added. Perhaps we'll get network specific notebooks too - tied to a specific vendor with 3 year contract.
Now that few of us remember how fast 95 and 98 were (well, slower than DOS but...), fading memories of W2K, XP seems acceptable. Unless you work on both W2K and XP then you'll live the difference.
Notebooks are so slow and of mediocre quality - at everything. Of course if you can afford to throw 3+ grand at one you'll get something 'faster'. But still slow compared to the $499 Dell.
Someone said it in another opinion. Laptops lack upgradeability! I'm on my third Video Adapter - second NIC - third CD/DVD recorder. The rest of my underdesk is humming along just fine for the third year - albeit slower since the W2K Pro to XP Pro upgrade alleviated somewhat with 256 to 756 memory upgrade. - Posted by: TrustMe_z Posted on: 06/06/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
