Exactly!
The MOST secure thing (next to employee watching you all the time) I can think of for DRM is the maker makes a specific motherboard encoded key (not a chip, easily replacable) and also distributes the software that will run only on that specific hardware or hardware with that key. Economically, this would be extremely expensive. Not worth the price, especially since this can fail too (virtual hardware).

What most people don't seem to understand is that in the software world, you only need ONE. ONE person has to remove/change the key and whether you make one or a million copies, the total cost isn't going to go well beyond the initial investment.

Now, those companies that will use DRM can, but they shouldn't expect it to be a 100% bullet proof system. There is also the whole fair use issues with the hardware model and probably the software one too. Personally, I just don't think the extra cost of implementing it is worth the tiny bit of extra protection it provides when compared to present methods.

The ONLY place I see DRM making a difference is when it comes to unwanted processes (viruses, worms, spy...). Even there, the really dumb user will still get infected (Prompt: "91z 3n73r k3y" ...) and it will be a major pain for the good user who doesn't get infected in the first place.
