Linux cannot survive?
DRM is an application level process; it just hooks with hardware (if that is what is needed). There is no need for Linux (which is only a kernel) to embrace rights management if it is being used in a cell phone, a super cluster (say 512 nodes or better), doing genomic modeling, making feature films (say Star Wars episode 3, etc.). DRM is found in such things as desktop systems and mobile devices, but it is not needed for all applications or system requirements.

If your goal is to produce something useful, create copyrighted material (even components of Linux are covered by copyright) or any other intellectual property (IP covers copyright, patent and trademark) then Linux is a platform that you can do this on. If all you do is use your computer to post material to something like a talkback, then Linux (and even Windows) is overkill for you! You should look into computer architecture, security architecture, application servers, ASP?s an the like before you post such BS as you do!

Using Linux on a PDA (such as Palm is trying to) is nothing new; TrollTech/Sharp Zaurus is an example of using Linux in a PDA. One could compile in a DRM module if they wanted to. Even the people that work on the kernel don?t care if you put in a DRM module (LKM) or not, that is up to the application developer. Linux already has high level of security for both server, desktop and network based systems that exceed the needs put forward by DRM. Thare are even a lot of DRM enabled devices that already use Linux as their base.
