Linux cannot survive unless it embraces DRM
It is very simple. The proprietory world, government and IP will not allow linux to play unless it also embraces DRM. If you do not play by the rules, "Access Denied". How can you compete if you are not allowed in the arena. At this point IBM will drop you like a hot potato. Maybe IBM and other distros can make DRM modules for you people before all this goes down.

The ultimate goal is for you to burn copyright material on your computer and make your backups. You can read & copy on your computer, play it on read only devices, access denied on uploading or other computers. There will be lots of songs traded between now and then. After that all legacy devices will not work if they survive that long.
