Regardless of OS the whole handheld market could slump
Whether it's Palm, Linux, MS and the like the entire handheld
market could be taking a hit. Perhaps here's why it may happen:
Many have the same handheld they've owned for years. Though
newer devices have many more features and capabilities many
cannot justify the upgrade cost. In my opinion that's one of the
things affecting the handheld market; people are sticking with
what they have until it quits functioning.

Because my cell phone, Nokia, provides me with the same
contact plus calendar capabilities and short memos as my Palm
the Palm now stays in the drawer. Many co-workers and friends
did the same with their handheld devices. Most say they used
their handhelds 99% of the time for contact/calendar however,
now that even basic cell phones provide those same capabilities
they've stopped carrying their handheld. I'm wondering if others
have found themselves in that same situation.

In Memo Pad section I have over 150 Memos almost all of them
were either not reviewed nor needed in over a year. The Memos
feature became a holding place for unused information.

A wonderful concept the handheld is though most important to
people I know and work with is contacts/calendar. As one
supervisor said, "other than contacts and calendar all other
features are overly expensive fluff". He also went to carrying only
his phone.
YMMV
