XBox360 hardly innovative...
even using the MS-favoured definition of innovation. (perhaps if MS and it's reps/mouthpieces didn't try to insert "innovate" (or variations of) within every 2nd or 3rd sentence, the term may actually mean something happy )

Just as it's hardly innovative to create the now popular all-in-one phone/camera/music player. As many have said, it's often better to do some one thing well rather than try many things poorly (eg, poor photo taking or music playback quality vs dedicated cameras and mp3 players).

You say "innovative", I say "conniving" (devious, cunning) as in "a means to now try and monopolize the living room and media". (thus my original comment about OEMs watching their backs... here comes their "partner" MS invading their Media PC space with the Trojan Horse-media PC XBox)

Apple's "Pippin" (circa 1996) was a combined multi-media, music playback, web-friendly, gaming, TV machine. It failed (poor marketing? Mac-based so automatically dismissed? released during Apple's troubled time (before Jobs)? poor functionality? ahead of it's time (aka the Newton)? ???) but it could perhaps be seen as a precursor for the "all-in-one" units of today.
