Down with the studio system?
One wonders if the same choice that was made by the courts in dismantling the studio system - that theaters were owned by studios and showed only the films of that studio - will be replicated in the gaming industry. The results of dismantling the monolithic studio system were the free-agency of actors, the rise of independent and small budget studios, the sanctioning of specialist filmmakers, the availability of lower-priced film equipment, fan films and those were merely the primary economic results. The dismantling of studios owning both the means of production and the means of presentation created more economic activity than the owning of the system by just a few large players.
