This is a joke, right?
Your statements are so far off, they are absolutely ridiculous. Windows XP does not offer anything over Mac OS X - aside from market saturation. Your argument is that being a MCSE is going to get them ahead - that is simply not true. The market is also saturated with MCSEs and the fact that a 7th grader can be pushed into this program does not speak well of the certification (which, by the way, is a series of MC tests - the kinds of tests that don't prove a real understanding of the subject).

What is important for children to have is an understanding of technology. This comes from diverse interactions with different technologies: Windows, Apple, and Linux/UNIX. Operating Systems are fairly similar and transitioning from one to the other is not a chore. Even office productivity suites (such as AppleWorks, MS-Office, OpenOffice, etc.) are fairly straightforward to switch back and forth.

I really hope this was a big joke, otherwise I feel sorry for the children in this school district. Both the poster of this message and the school authorities displayed the same kind of ignorance, stupidity, and aversion to change that existed with racial matters.

What a sad mind set...
