Getting cutoff by the bleeding edge.
I?ve already dealt with consultants wanting to put 802.11n in their enterprise setups. The usual reason is that they?re trying to run a LAN over air when it should be wired. But like I tell them, 802.11n isn?t even a standard yet anything you get now will probably e incompatible with the standard when it?s released in a year. The same thing happened with 802.3af, Cisco started with a prestandard, everybody adopted it then 802.3af came out and was incompatible. If you need the technology so much that you?ll be willing to redesign your network later, go for it. Otherwise don?t cry when your MIMO AP?s need to be replaced in 2 years.

People need to realize there?s place for wireless and a place for wired. If you?re computer is not mobile and you?re in an office environment just wire the network; put in wireless if you have a lot of laptops or mobile VoIP phones. Otherwise you?re going to be wondering why you?re network is getting crummy performance even though you have a ton of AP?s (here?s a clue, you have a ton of hubs with 54Mbps shared busses).

It?s fun to have cutting edge equipment, it makes for good boasting rights when you have bleeding edge equipment, but if you get too far ahead of the edge you?re going to get cut in half.
