Diversifying

My own personal thoughts on the matter are that DSL should not be part of a phone system (such as having a phone number assigned), anymore than Internet Explorer should be part of the operating system. Cable has internet only access, without requiring the purchase of Cable TV. Are the phone companies that bad that they are unable to differentiate the two?

If the phone companies were smarter, they would offer DSL only without tying it to a phone number. Their customer support would increase and their overall costs would decrease, leading to them getting bigger profits.

Why they can't see that, I have no idea other than maybe the people running it are technologically blind. The same can be said of the FCC. They need younger people running it instead of the older generation who seem to be (not all, but a good majority) afraid of computers and technology.
