"Think about how many people retired...
... from Microsoft with huge fortunes.."
Yes indeedy. Many criminals retired with huge fortunes after having spent years gouging, deceiving, and bilking their victi..er, customers very nicely. Many Microsfters retired alongside their Enron and Worldcom counterparts. The only difference being that the feds never were forced to nail down Microsoft they way they wre other companies. The lack of proper justice does not erase the existence of crime. If a killer or pedophile is never caught, that does not erase the fact that they killed or molested.
"Okay, being in charge is probably part of it. But the reason has to include: he likes software."
No he doesn't. He could care less about software, the internet, or computing in general. Maybe at some point in the past he did, but certainly not today. If he really liked software then he'd like linux, OSX, java, Apache, and Unix too, no? But instead he has spent his entire career and life trying endlessly to derail and destroy all these other better technologies. What Bill Gates loves most, as do all cracked out megalomaniacs is CONTROL. Control over EVERYTHING. And of course the best way to gain control of things in this world is through money. Hence Microsoft's typical practice of gouging all it can out of its victi..er, customers.
"closest comparison to Bill Gates is John D. Rockefeller."
That is a good one. The Rockefellers: what a nice benevolent, live and let live, churchgoing bunch, eh? I'd also liken Billy to Al Capone, Ken Lay, Dick Cheney, etc.. - Posted by: Jeff Spicoli Posted on: 03/22/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
