Are you required to produce ID
In Canada we can be asked for ID but if we don't have it or refuse to show it the Police can do nothing. Of course there are execptions such as not producing a Drivers License when driving but that's only a $50 fine.

I've been asked by Police for ID lots of times when out riding my bike. I just say no and move along business as usual. They can ask and I can say no. It's kind of like searching your house, if you give permision then it's legal but you don't have to give permision and can wait for them to get a warrant.
