Assumptions
"But in your case Carl, you've made statements about how you middle American folks are tired of the debauchery spewing out of the coastal states and the celebrities. THis led me to believe that you voted for Bush because of his "moral values". Also your comment about Bill Maher's show having too many liberals all the time kind of clued me in. I could be wrong, but I used comments like that to make my assumption about your political leaning."

So your generalizations are based on assumptions, something you condemn others for doing. You are quick to indignantly point out that you are NOT a Democrat and you voted for Bush the first time around, despite your obvious hatred of him and all Republicans now. I don't like to watch Fox News for the same reason I don't like to watch Real Time: it's too one-sided. But at least Real Time is funny. I prefer to watch shows that not only have a good balance of opinion, but don't feel the need to shout each other down (Richard Belzer is one of the worst on Real Time). I watch both CNN and Fox News occasionally, just to get different views on the same story. I also read newspapers, listen to the radio, and talk to people. Anyone who gets information from only a single source doesn't have enough information to make valid decisions.

"Moreover, the fact that you have no interest in investigating the vote fraud, 9/11, or the various crimes being committed in Iraq are also hallmark modern day Republican. Just look the other way and deny EVERYTHING, regardless of whether it defies science or common sense."

Once again, you are lumping everyone who disagrees with you into a single group (Republican). And you wonder why people assume you are a Democrat? Doesn't your mind have any room for shades of gray? For people who may be (for example) 'liberal' when it comes to social programs but 'conservative' when it comes to international affairs? For people who may believe that there are actually people out there in the world who would like to see America destroyed, but still not think the war in Iraq is the right thing to do? I come across such people all the time. Do you only talk to people who are as polarized as you are?

Why must everyone be in such neat little groups? Isn't that the hallmark of prejudice and bigotry -- saying 'they're all the same'?
