Interesting article on the 'papers', Tic. This is tough because I can see your point (or the cowboy's point), yet at the same time I find it hard to consider a policeman asking for ID an unreasonable request. Based on my cursory examination of the incident, it looks like the cops took a few liberties. I understand that the large issue is the precedent set by the court. I'm trying to see their side, so let me air this out:

A man is standing outside a baseball stadium on gameday as people file in. He is wearing a backpack. He's been standing there for some time, apparently not doing anything. Someone notices him, and reports him to a police officer as a 'suspicious person'. Is it wrong for the cop to ask this man for ID? I'm not sure it is, although the man has not broken any laws.

I'd be interested to hear your take on this.
