WiMAX is just long range wireless telephony.
You will end up paying for it jsut as you will pay for Wi-Fi at a HotSpot. This is the basis for 4G mobile phones (yes, phones), just as a T-1 (US) or E-1 (Europe) is a telecom line (though often used for data) and OC-192 for long haul (under the ocean, fo example). You were expecting a free lunch off of the telecom players (who will probubly be the WiMAX tower owners)?
