Tryanny of telephone poles
It still exists...Although the Baby bells now have competition at the local level, they have only one competitor...the local cable company. Cell Phone operators still need the phone company for networking their base stations together, and for local connections. Their installed base (paid for by consumers) still represents an immense advantage over their competition. That advantage resulted in the failure of competitive local phone operators, and will be the leverage they could use to the disadvantage of consumers if they were to become totally unregulated.
