Still trying to monopolize and overcharge
With all the mergermania going on, Sprint, Clearwire, and other major players (in the background) buy up or lease any available wireless licensed spectrum to be ready for the WiMax, voice over wireles IP and other advanced services when 802.16 is more formalized (and mobile). So as smaller companies like Vonage and Packet8 are trying to give the consumer a break, ATT and Verizon are charging twice as much for the same service (actually less service) when they could charge equal or less because the infrastructure already exists for the major carriers.
