The price is NOT right
I could get a month of service for the $29.95 price the airlines are charging for a single flight. Even the $9.95 for first 30 minutes is pretty useless. I would argue the #1 app is email. For that, access to email during the entire flight would be needed. A price point between $5 and $10 per flight, with unlimited data would work for me. At that price, I would connect to a placeshift device(video over internet) like the the SlingMedia device and watch the TV programs and/or movies back home on my local DVR and CableTV box instead of the in-flight movie. I could also make VoIP phone calls. The airlines are probably figuring this would cannibilize their existing phone and movie sales, but I would argue a lot more people would go with the internet option, enough to make the business viable. Just my 2 cents. happy
