Ignorance
People do not prefer ignorance. Generally speaking, they prefer full disclosure/knowledge. Uncle Sam prefers ignorance. If people do not know about these "fees," or "hidden taxes," then they don't get so annoyed at the politicians that voted to collect the money as fees instead of taxes.

BTW - if you have a link to support your contention that disclosure is now illegal, it would be appreciated. If you don't, then your contention that disclosure is illegal will be assumed to be created solely by you, with no factual basis. In other words, if you're going to use something to support your arguments, it is your responsibility to show your sources, and not everyone else's responsibility to prove your unverifiable sources incorrect.
