Geographic dispersal of computing assets is considered good business in this day and age. Everything consolidated at one site, or campus, or even on adjacent power grids is a known bad idea for any large 24x7x365 company.

It only makes sense to disperse assets geographically for safety's sake, but that also costs money. If your business model is a low margin business model, then you have to find a new low margin product to pay for the increased services. If good Business Continuance practices require X resources, then 2X or even 3X give you a product you can potentially sell.
