Moralists, not thinkers

There are at least two distinct groups that you confuse with this kind of statement. One is like many of my reletives, who given half an opportunity would legislate your behavior for "your own good", and those like me. Given a new situation, I will think about it and probaly develop an opinion fairly quickly based on the pretty well defined framework on which I base my life and belief system. What I will not do is require or even expect you to agree.

Take my stance on abortion for example. I personally believe that it is wrong under any circumstances. I made sure that I married a woman with the same view, as children are an important part of my life. I am against overeturning Roe v Wade, however, and am consistantly embarased by my fellow "Christians" who would spew vile and even violence at abortion clinics to force all of society to agree with "our" stance. It is contrary to the message given us by Christ.

In other words, I don't get it either, and I am one of them.
