I use Vonage and I do have 911 service. Not that it matters anyway. If anyone chooses to use a service that does not provide 911 service, it's their problem, not the service provider's.

The FCC is totally wrong. NO COMPANY or technology needs to be 'coddled' so it can grow.
True, but then there is also no need to unneccessarily burden new or even existing technologies with regulations that are not appropriate. VOIP is a new technology that is different from existing phone services, why should it be required to obey existing regulations that apply to the telephone system?
