CDMA vs. the rest
It's no news that CDMA wins - ALL major 3G networks will be 3G. GSM networks will become WCDMA, and existing CDMA, such as Sprint and Verizon will probably become CDMA2000. It's a foregone conclusion that if you don't have a 3G plan that uses one of these 2, you'll be out of business. Hence Nextel sells out.

Qualcomm collects nicely on CDMA2000, but I don't think they get nearly as much from WCDMA.

GSM is based on TDMA technology, but is far more sophisticated than what we simpy call TDMA here in the States (e.g. AT&T TDMA).

Like the GSM vs. TDMA comparison, WCDMA and CDMA2000 will be incompatible because what sits on top of the basic CDMA is different.
