The Cell network was but a step on the long journey to pervasive wireless. The "Cell" will NOT be the choice of future wireless communication! Once Cell tower can accomdedate a couple hundred calls at a time - and each one needs a separately-handled antenna connection. A technology such as WiFi or WiMAX can handle hundreds of connections from omnidirectional antennas, and can have connection ranges of up to 30 miles (WiMAX).

The Cell is a dinosaur, lingering until WiMAX drops the asteroid on it . . .
